Ben and Jerry’s - Free Cone Day

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

Although Shane and I agreed not to include national chains in our site (they already get enough press and most people know what they taste like), I have to hand it to Ben and Jerry’s for FREE CONE DAY! That’s right, unlimited, free small cones. Last Tuesday, April 25th was the glorious day. It should be a national holiday. With a line out the door, it was hopping the whole time I was there and my favorite was the pre-school classes stopping in for a treat.  It’s not a full report, but here’s what the scoop is on our trip to the chain. About ten of the people I work with and I descended on the shop on Main Street, Hyannis at lunch and ate about 2 cones each (some had more). Everyone enjoyed their flavors. I tried two of their new flavors: Bananas on the Rum and Baklava. I loved the banana ice cream with brown sugary swirls. The Baklava ice cream was good with actual pieces in it, but it was kind of soggy due to the pastry. As you all know, Ben and Jerry’s makes great ice cream. If you are in Hyannis and need a sweet treat, stop in or go to your local grocer for this old standby of good ice cream. Well, at least until we report on a better shop in the Hyannis area. And be sure to mark your calanders and keep your eyes peeled for free cone day sometime in late April next year.
