Twin Acres Ice Cream Shoppe
Twin Acres Ice Cream Shoppe
Yet another “shoppe.” Cape Cod is full of fake “old timey” places that have all been built in the last 10-30 years but try to act like they have been around forever. While the Twin Acres is really just your average ice cream stand, its name fits in well with the Cape Cod theme.
The place itself is of the “walk up” variety. You walk up and some young girl takes your order and then you walk away. Why is it that high school girls always seem to staff ice cream places?
The stand has limited seating, but its rather nice with trees and a nice picnic table to sit at. I can see this place being very popular in the summer time. The ice cream was served fast and it the service was good. The ice cream was not made on site, but they had scoop and soft serve which is nice. I got ginger ice cream in a cone, and Tess got moose tracks in a cup with cone “hat.” The ginger ice cream was really good with large chunks of candy ginger in it, and the cream was whipped giving the whole confection a light and airy taste.
The moose tracks was very rich and deliciously chocolaty. Mmm good. With more than 36 flavors (including sugar free and reduced fat versions) it could take a while to make your way through all the creams.
We showed up on a very nasty rainy day, it was cold and windy, and the place was very busy. But the service was so fast that the line never got too long. Overall it was a good place, pretty average, but good. Tip: get a cup with cone hat, you get more cream and a tasty cone.

We stopped by the Twin Acres for an after lunch treat, and were very impressed with the cake batter ice cream. It was vanilla cake batter ice cream with some sort of chocolate fudge added in. Decent price, decent size, quick service & delicious. We highly recommend it!

The ice cream is great, the milkshakes are not. For some reason it seems like finding a good, rich, creamy chocolate milkshake is like the search for the Holy Grail! Definitely do not order a chocolate milkshake here, the amount was not worth the money and the consistency was thin and runny.

The milk shakes are great if you are really looking for a milk shake. A real milk shake is a little ice cream and a lot of milk whipped together. Frappes are the richer more ice cream-like drinks you almost need to eat with a spoon. They will make you a frappe if you ask. Also there sorbets are very good and have real fruit in them.

I have stopped at Twin Acres many times and have not been disappointed at all. The only time that I was was when I ordered a lime rickey. It came out of a bottle and it was not very good. The ice cream itself is definitelt worth the trip.

I have been to Twin Acres and Enjoy it very much. The ice cream is great but the landscaping is second to none with their beautiful flowers. I think the 3 cone rating is unfair and would give it a four or five. Try to go on a nice day so you can enjoy the grounds instead of a rainy dismal day.

We felt that to get a four cone the store has to at least make there own ice cream. We gave them a good review, and a rating of three is not bad on our scale. We enjoyed Twin Acres.

im from Sandwich and this is the best ice cream that i have ever tasted…during the summer people would wait for over and half hour just to get their ice cream…when tourists think of sandwich they think of twin acres also…and twin acres has been there all of my life and for part of my dads…and what else are high school girls going to do over the summer….i feel that the owners are extreamly nice for hiring people who are in high school because it is very hard for younger people to get jobs in Sandwich.

I am from Texas and had the wonderful experience of a visit to this lovely ice cream store recently. The menu is fun to look at and there is more flavors and variety of products to choose than any wide-eyed kid could want. The building was clean and the landscape was clean and fresh allowing an enjoyable relaxing time in the shade. There are fresh flowers, landscaped plants, and tall trees all around with a neat little picnic area to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Also the shop is the cleanest on the Cape. If you look inside you can see there is not a spot on the floor and the machines are immaculate. Disagree with the website, 4 ½ cones easy.

I have never formally been to twin acres, actually, but have heard lots about it. Everytime i see it during the summer it is chockfull of people awaiting their ice cream. My husband was out wandering the town, and got a 2 scoop ice cream from there when we were vacationing. I tried a bite and it was absolutely delicious. I can’t remember the exact flavor, however. I woud love to go back again soon!
