Smitty’s Homemade Ice Cream 

Smitty’s is located on rt. 28 in Falmouth it is a nice little ice cream shop located in a cute old farm house surrounded by green, beautiful lawn. Although we went on a rainy Sunday in May (it seems we always visit shops in the rain now a days), I can totally picture the yard being full of families and kids playing and enjoying their cones. One of the girls behind the counter even made the comment that they were not busy for once. We also learned that the staff were all returning people, which is great because that means it must be a fun environment.

As mentioned, outside is grassy expanse, while inside is a bright, clean, cow and pink themed interior, complete with black and white checked floor. The many cow decorations include posters, figurines, and even a poster with a cow saying “Falmouth” which I got a big kick out of.

 

There was a lot of ice cream to choose from, but cookie dough and coffee oreo were suggested to us, which Shane and I got respectively. The cookie dough had chocolate chips in the dough and the cream itself. The coffee oreo was FILLED with oreo pieces, almost oreo swirled if you will. Both were good sized cups for a rainy afternoon.

 

Ok, so decision time, three or four cones? So, the ice cream was good, but not super. I enjoyed my ice cream and would go back (if we find time while visiting all the other shops on Cape!), therefore I feel three cones. The atmosphere and building itself were so great though. Ample room inside with seating and appealing decor and the gorgeous outside with picnic table, great spread of lawn and outside ordering window. Thus the four cones. OK ice cream versus great eye candy. BUT WAIT! I have forgotten one little detail, the FREE JIMMIES! The great people behind the counter offer free jimmies with every cone they hand out! That’s enough for me. Any place with staff that great and a free sprinkle policy should be given the four cones.
