Cataumet Scoops Ice Cream
So here’s the scoop on Scoops- its just another Richardson’s reseller. Shane and I have come to figure this out: when the flavor list has “Totally Turtle”, “Moosetracks”, AND “Maine Black Bear” its just Richardson’s Ice Cream. Don’t get me wrong, Richardson’s is good ice cream and I do enjoy it. However, to be the BEST ICE CREAM ON CAPE COD you have to be a stand out with something unique.
Scoops is part of a colorful little plaza on 28A. It’s solely an outside counter which is nice on a summer night. There is plenty of seating on their large deck and ample parking, however, it’s not a very interesting site when you’re licking your cone, all you can do is look at the parking lot and perhaps see who’s visiting the Parrot. The radio is playing but its just kind of boring.
There were not a lot of choices in ice cream. A short list of only ice cream, no soft serve and only one flavor of yogurt to be found. The ice cream was good. Shane got Strawberry and I chose Coffee Brownie. Shane’s strawberry was flavorful, creamy, and had large chunks of Strawberry. However, the strawberries were frozen solid! You had to leave them in your mouth for a while to warm them up before you could bite them. My coffee was creamy as well and the brownie chunks were plentiful and delicious. They were soft and rich, increasing the richness of my ice cream. We wanted to give them a 4 in the “stuff in the ice cream” category, but due the rock hard berries, we had to give them a 3.
That pretty much wraps it up. It claims to be the ”best ice cream in the world” but I think it’s hard to make that claim when a bunch of other shops sell the same stuff.
