Daisy’s in Chatham was enjoyable with granite tables for two on a narrow side walk, a great section of ice cream and a welcoming interior. However, the price was not right. At $3.40 for a small.

Daisy’s is picturesque. It’s colorful interior includes chalk boards with all the menu items written in a variety of colors, ice cream kitch all over, checkered floors, nice swirling fans, and bar stools overlooking the sidewalk.  Daisy’s easily pulls people in.

They serve Bliss ice cream and had a variety of unique flavors. Bliss sells to many places that claim to be “homemade” and even sells an ice cream base that many places flavor themselves.

Shane chose Bear Claw which is chocolate ice cream with chocolate covered cashews and a carmel swirl. I chose Muddy Sneakers which is white chocolate ice cream with chocolate covered carmel candies that have crushed peanut pieces in it, chocolate pieces, and a carmel swirl. Both sound better than they really were.

Both types of ice cream were creamy and rich. However, the white chocolate ice cream flavor was a little off, almost vanilla. The flavor was not really rich, it was rather light, which is nice for the summer as you can walk around after and not feel weighed down.

Neither had the swirls of camel that were promised. I did SEE one in my cone, but I could not taste it and Shane could not even find it in his. I only had two carmel candies in my entire cone; Shane only had 3 or 4 cashews. The chips in my ice cream were milk chocolate instead of the usual dark chocolate which was actually a nice change.

We both got ours in their homemade waffle cone(which was a DOLLAR! each). Shane thought his was little stale.  In short, the ice cream did not contain what the menu said it would. I guess if we just got chocolate or vanilla with nothing in it, we probably would have enjoyed it more.

Daisy’s is more for looks and perhaps coffee, or plain flavors of ice cream. Their original flavors are average and the ice cream with “stuff in it” is really overrated.  The ice cream was a little overpriced for my wallet.

NOw I am biased decause I am friends with the Daisy’s “crew” But have you gone into any other Ice Cream store in Chatham? Daisy’s is a steal compared to other which I won’t name. And by the way Hamoemade waffle cones start at $1 extra to $1.75. And the average price around the corner is $4.00 for a small…very small. Again I am friends with Jason the owner but you should consider visiting more than one shop in a town. Not harping here or complsining you guys do good work

Thanks, Jim! We would love to get out to Chatham again, but we both live on the Upper Cape it is a bit of a drive. As environmentalists (and the high cost of fuel) we try to eat at shops when we are doing things in the area already. We are trying to get back out to Chatham, but the past couple of weeks have not allowed the time. Luckily we still have several more weeks of summer to keep researching! Thank you for the tip!

When we compare shops we are comparing them to all the shops on cape cod. We are after all trying to find the best ice cream on the whole cape. We will for sure go back to Chatham and try other shops in the area. Thank you for your comment, and thanks for letting us know that perhaps Chatham is a small island of “pricey” ice cream. Happy to hear you enjoy our work, its a hard job but someone has to do it :)

  7. "betty" says:

i will not say how i know, but i happen to know that based on the rent daisy’s pays, and the cost they pay for their ice cream, their prices are a STEAL. the staff is wonderful, the owner is wonderful, and the ice cream is the BEST. try the cowabunga crunch and the purple cow. they are the best two flavors, and they are the ones the reviewer should have tried.

    The reviewers are goofballs

Living in the UK, I last visited Daisy’s in 2002, I had my first New York egg creme, yes, its not New York, but I had heard of the drink and wanted to try it, the owner of the store told me all about it, a very nice guy. I can’t wait to go again, Im leaving for Boston tomorrow and staying on the cape for a week.
